Product Description

Wear-Resistant UHMWPE Liner Sheet for Bulk Material Handling

Wear-Resistant UHMWPE Liner Sheet is a high-performance engineering plastic lining plate manufactured from ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene. It is designed for industrial equipment exposed to abrasive materials, repeated impact, continuous sliding, material accumulation and demanding operating conditions.

The material combines excellent wear resistance, high impact strength, a low-friction working surface, self-lubricating performance and very low moisture absorption. It can be installed inside hoppers, chutes, bins, silos, truck bodies and conveyor transfer systems to create a durable and replaceable material-contact surface.

The blue liner shown in the product image can be supplied as a full molded sheet, cut-to-size lining panel, long wear strip or finished CNC-machined component. Length, width, thickness, mounting-hole positions, grooves, countersinks and outside profiles can be processed according to customer drawings.

What Is a Wear-Resistant UHMWPE Liner Sheet?

A Wear-Resistant UHMWPE Liner Sheet is a compression-molded polyethylene panel used as a replaceable wear and sliding surface inside industrial equipment. UHMWPE contains extremely long molecular chains that contribute to toughness, impact resistance and resistance to repeated abrasive contact.

When installed over a steel structure, the liner separates the conveyed material from the metal surface. This helps reduce direct steel wear, corrosion exposure, material sticking and operating noise.

The blue pigment is dispersed throughout the material rather than applied only as a surface coating. Cutting, drilling and machining therefore reveal the same general blue color inside the sheet.

Color alone does not confirm food-contact compliance, UV stabilization, antistatic performance, electrical conductivity or any branded material grade. These functions require separately specified formulations and supporting technical documentation.

How Does Wear-Resistant UHMWPE Liner Sheet Improve Material Flow?

Low-Friction Working Surface

The smooth surface of Wear-Resistant UHMWPE Liner Sheet helps reduce sliding resistance between the lining and bulk materials. Lower friction can help coal, grain, powders, minerals, aggregates and manufactured products move more smoothly through hoppers and chutes.

This can help reduce sticking, bridging, arching and material accumulation in suitable equipment. Actual flow performance depends on particle shape, moisture content, material temperature, wall angle, contact pressure and equipment design.

Reduced Material Buildup

Rough, corroded or damaged steel surfaces can create points where bulk materials collect. Installing a smooth UHMWPE liner covers these uneven surfaces and creates a more uniform material-contact area.

The liner does not replace correct hopper-angle or material-flow design. Difficult materials may still require suitable wall angles, vibration systems, air assistance or other flow-control methods.

Protection of the Steel Structure

A properly installed liner prevents much of the conveyed material from directly contacting the supporting steel body. This helps reduce sliding abrasion, repeated impact and corrosion-related damage.

Because the liner is replaceable, worn sections can normally be removed without replacing the complete hopper, chute, silo or truck body.

Main Advantages of Wear-Resistant UHMWPE Liner Sheet

Excellent Abrasion Resistance

Wear-Resistant UHMWPE Liner Sheet is suitable for equipment exposed to repeated rubbing and sliding wear. It can be used with coal, grain, sand, minerals, powders, cement ingredients, aggregates, waste materials and manufactured products.

Actual service life depends on particle hardness, particle shape, material-flow rate, contact pressure, impact angle, operating temperature and installation quality.

High Impact Strength

The UHMWPE structure provides high toughness and helps the lining withstand repeated impact without easily cracking under appropriate operating conditions.

This characteristic is useful in loading zones, transfer points, truck bodies, bins, hoppers and chutes where falling materials repeatedly strike the working surface.

Low Coefficient of Friction

The low-friction surface helps materials slide through equipment with less resistance. It can reduce material drag and support more consistent discharge from suitable hoppers, bins and chutes.

Friction performance varies according to material grade, surface finish, contact pressure, moisture and the characteristics of the conveyed product.

Self-Lubricating Performance

UHMWPE provides a naturally low-friction sliding surface. Most liner applications do not require continuous oil or grease lubrication.

This can simplify maintenance and avoid introducing lubricants into bulk-material-handling systems.

Low Water Absorption

UHMWPE absorbs very little moisture compared with many conventional engineering plastics. This supports stable performance in humid production areas, outdoor material-handling systems and periodically washed equipment.

Chemical and Corrosion Resistance

Wear-Resistant UHMWPE Liner Sheet does not rust and resists many commonly encountered acids, alkalis, salts and industrial chemicals.

Chemical compatibility should be reviewed separately when the liner will contact strong oxidizing agents, specialized solvents, concentrated chemicals or elevated-temperature process media.

Noise and Vibration Reduction

Installing UHMWPE between moving materials and metal structures can help reduce direct metal contact, equipment vibration and operating noise.

The degree of noise reduction depends on liner thickness, supporting structure, conveyed material and equipment operating speed.

Replaceable Wear Surface

The liner acts as a replaceable wear component. When the working surface reaches its maintenance limit, individual panels can be removed while the main steel structure remains in service.

Convenient Mechanical Processing

Wear-Resistant UHMWPE Liner Sheet can be cut, planed, drilled, milled, grooved and CNC-machined. Mounting holes, recessed bolt positions, overlapping edges, stepped joints and irregular profiles can be produced according to drawings.

Available Thickness Options

10–20 mm Wear-Resistant UHMWPE Liner Sheet

Relatively thin panels are suitable for lightly loaded chutes, conveyor transfer surfaces, protective linings and applications with continuous steel backing support.

Thin liner panels normally require closer fastener spacing and even structural support to reduce movement and local deformation.

20–50 mm Industrial Wear Liners

This thickness range is commonly selected for hoppers, chutes, bins, truck bodies and general bulk-material-handling equipment.

It provides a practical balance between wear allowance, impact resistance, installation weight and machining flexibility.

50–100 mm Heavy-Duty Liner Plates

Thicker panels can be used in high-impact loading zones, mining equipment, heavy bulk-material systems and applications requiring greater wear allowance.

100–200 mm Thick Machining Plates

Thick UHMWPE plates can be evaluated for impact blocks, deeply machined liners, support components and specialized industrial structures.

Production feasibility depends on overall dimensions, mold capacity, cooling time, internal stress, machining allowance and dimensional-tolerance requirements.

Standard and Large-Format Liner Panels

Standard Wear-Resistant UHMWPE Liner Sheet

Standard panel sizes such as 1000 × 2000 mm and 1220 × 2440 mm are convenient for transportation, machining, installation and individual replacement.

Large-Format Wear-Resistant UHMWPE Liner Sheet

Large-format panels can reduce the number of joints inside hoppers, bins, chutes, silos and truck bodies. Fewer correctly designed joints can help reduce material-catching points.

Panels approximately 4–6 metres long can be evaluated according to the required width, thickness, flatness, transportation conditions and equipment dimensions.

Standard and Modified UHMWPE Liner Grades

Standard Wear-Resistant UHMWPE

Standard UHMWPE is suitable for general liner applications involving sliding wear, repeated impact and bulk-material movement.

Enhanced Wear-Resistant Grade

An enhanced wear formulation can be evaluated for aggressive minerals, high-frequency loading or equipment requiring a longer liner-replacement interval.

UV-Stabilized Grade

UV-stabilized UHMWPE can be specified for outdoor truck bodies, open hoppers and equipment exposed to sunlight. Color alone does not confirm a specific level of UV resistance.

Antistatic or Conductive Grade

Where electrostatic accumulation is a concern, a separately formulated antistatic or conductive UHMWPE grade may be required.

The required surface resistance, volume resistance, test method, testing voltage and environmental conditions should be specified before production.

Filled and Branded Liner Grades

Some specialized liner products use glass-filled, lubricant-filled or other modified UHMWPE formulations. These materials may provide different wear, friction, hardness and dimensional properties from standard UHMWPE.

Trademarked material names should only be used when the supplied material has been verified as the corresponding brand and grade.

Custom Cutting and CNC Machining

Wear-Resistant UHMWPE Liner Sheet can be supplied as a complete molded panel, cut-to-size liner or finished component manufactured according to customer drawings.

Available processing services include:

  • Full-sheet edge trimming
  • Rectangular liner cutting
  • Long wear-strip cutting

  • Positioning grooves
  • Stepped panel edges
  • Overlapping liner joints
  • Tongue-and-groove edges
  • Curved outside profiles
  • Custom openings and cut-outs
  • Finished CNC-machined components

Panel Joint and Edge Design

Liner joints should be positioned according to the direction of material flow. An exposed upstream edge can catch bulk materials and increase local wear.

Depending on the equipment structure, panels may use overlapping joints, stepped edges, tongue-and-groove structures or staggered multilayer joints.

The final edge structure should consider liner thickness, material-flow direction, supporting-steel condition and installation accessibility.

Installation Recommendations

Wear-Resistant UHMWPE Liner Sheet can be installed with countersunk bolts, recessed fasteners, mechanical clamps, weld studs, backing plates or equipment-specific fixing systems.

The steel backing surface should be clean, even and capable of supporting the liner. Unsupported areas can allow excessive movement and increase stress around the fasteners.

UHMWPE expands and contracts more than steel when temperature changes. Mounting holes and panel joints should therefore provide suitable expansion clearance.

Fasteners should not be excessively tightened because concentrated pressure can deform the material around bolt holes.
