Nylon Diameter-Increasing Plate is a curved CNC-machined component used on coiler mandrels and expandable drums to increase the effective working diameter and accommodate coils with different internal diameters.
Available in MC nylon, PA6 and modified wear-resistant nylon, with custom inner radius, outer radius, thickness, mounting holes and end profiles manufactured according to drawings or samples.
Nylon Diameter-Increasing Plate is a curved, segmented engineering plastic component installed on the outer surface of a coiler mandrel or expandable drum. It increases the effective working diameter of the mandrel, allowing the equipment to accommodate steel coils, strip materials or sleeves with different internal diameters.
The product shown is manufactured as several independent curved sections. Each section contains accurately machined mounting holes, counterbores or locating holes so that the plates can be securely fixed to the corresponding mandrel segments. Different plate lengths, widths and hole arrangements can be produced according to the equipment drawing.
The curved inner surface of the plate is machined to match the original mandrel radius, while the outer surface forms the required enlarged working diameter. Multiple plates are installed around the mandrel to create a substantially continuous cylindrical surface.
Depending on the equipment design, the Nylon Diameter-Increasing Plate can include:
Nylon belongs to the family of engineering polyamide materials. Compared with many metal components, properly selected nylon provides a useful combination of mechanical strength, toughness, wear resistance and machinability.
Common material options include MC nylon, PA6 nylon and modified wear-resistant nylon. The final material should be selected according to operating load, rotational speed, temperature, contact pressure, humidity and installation environment. More information about the material is available from our Polyamide PA Nylon Sheet category.
Nylon Diameter-Increasing Plates are commonly used with expandable mandrels, recoilers, uncoilers and strip-processing equipment. Typical applications include cold-rolled steel strip production, metal slitting lines, coil rewinding systems and other equipment requiring conversion between different mandrel diameters.
The plate is primarily intended for dimensional adaptation, support and wear protection. For high-temperature coiling or unusually high surface pressure, the operating temperature and mechanical load must be reviewed before selecting nylon.
Each Nylon Diameter-Increasing Plate can be manufactured according to a technical drawing, sample or measured equipment dimensions. Available manufacturing options include CNC milling, drilling, boring, counterboring, tapping, profiling, chamfering and batch machining.

Our CNC Plastic Machining service supports prototype production and repeat batch orders for nylon and other engineering plastic components.
Before production, the mandrel diameter, enlarged diameter, plate quantity, installation direction and critical hole positions should be confirmed. During machining, the inner radius, outer radius, thickness, mounting-hole spacing and fitting surfaces are inspected to reduce assembly problems.
Finished plates are deburred and cleaned before packaging. For batch production, the parts can be numbered according to their installation positions, helping the customer identify and assemble each curved segment correctly.
