Food Grade PE Rod is a white or natural food-contact polyethylene round bar for food-processing, beverage, conveying and packaging equipment. It offers low moisture absorption, good chemical resistance, a low-friction surface and reliable machining performance. Reference diameters range from Ø15 to Ø300 mm, with a reference length of 1000 mm. The exact PE grade and food-contact documentation should be confirmed according to the intended application.
Food Grade PE Rod is a white or natural polyethylene round bar manufactured from a specified material grade intended for suitable food-contact applications. It can be machined into lightweight, corrosion-resistant and low-moisture-absorption components for food-processing, beverage, packaging and conveying equipment.
Depending on the required wear resistance, rigidity, impact performance and operating conditions, the base material may be food-contact HDPE, UHMWPE or another specified polyethylene grade. These materials are not automatically interchangeable. The exact polymer grade, additives, colorants and compliance documentation should be confirmed before ordering.
Compared with many metal materials, polyethylene does not rust, absorbs very little moisture and offers good resistance to many commonly encountered chemicals. Its relatively low-friction surface also makes it suitable for guides, rollers, bushings and transfer components that contact packages or food-processing equipment parts.

Polyethylene is a family of thermoplastic polymers available in several types, including HDPE and UHMWPE. General information about the material is available from Wikipedia’s Polyethylene page. General information about materials intended to contact food is available from Wikipedia’s Food Contact Materials page.
When the correct material grade and compliance documentation are confirmed, Food Grade PE Rod can be machined into components such as:
The final material should be selected according to direct or indirect food contact, food type, contact time, operating temperature, mechanical load, cleaning chemicals and dimensional tolerance requirements.
The following dimensions are based on the product options shown in the supplied reference image. The image combines several product lists, so the dimensions below should be treated as reference production and sales sizes rather than guaranteed inventory.

Size notice: The listed diameters and 1000 mm length are reference specifications taken from the supplied image. They do not represent guaranteed stock availability. The image does not display Ø270 mm, so this diameter has not been included in the reference list.
Actual diameter, length, material grade, surface condition, machining allowance, straightness, tolerance, minimum order quantity and delivery time should be confirmed before production. Large-diameter rods may use different production processes and machining allowances from smaller extruded rods.
Food Grade PE Rod can be processed by CNC turning, milling, drilling, boring, grooving, cutting, tapping and chamfering. Our CNC Plastic Machining service supports sample production and batch manufacturing according to customer drawings, physical samples and equipment conditions.
Sharp cutting tools and controlled cutting parameters are recommended because polyethylene is softer and more flexible than many engineering plastics. Excessive clamping force or cutting heat may cause deformation, burrs or dimensional variation. Long rods and thin-wall components should be supported correctly during machining.
For components used in hygienic equipment, machined surfaces, corners, holes and grooves should be designed to support cleaning and reduce areas where residue may accumulate. Surface requirements and cleaning procedures should be confirmed according to the customer’s equipment standards.
Food Grade PE Rod is suitable for customers requiring a lightweight, machinable polyethylene material for food-processing, conveying, beverage and packaging equipment. The appropriate PE grade, rod diameter, machining tolerance and compliance documentation should be selected according to the actual operating conditions.
Check drawings for full specifications and confirm materials according to service conditions to prevent product defects.
Inspect all key processing steps and fully verify dimensions, holes, grooves and fitting surfaces.
Deburr, chamfer and clean products for easy installation. Ensure uniform quality among batch products.
Choose appropriate packaging solutions based on product features to protect goods from collision, deformation and mixing during transit.
Unlike metal parts, engineering plastic components still require strict control over dimensions, holes, edges, surface, materials and assembly performance for equipment use.
Engineering plastic parts suit friction, guide, support, buffer, anti-corrosion and insulation areas. We supply UHMWPE, POM, PA, PP/PE components for conveyor, food, mining, machinery, chemical and cable systems, with custom OEM service available.
