PA12 Nylon Rod for Precision Machined Components

PA12 Nylon Rod is a polyamide 12 round bar designed for precision-machined components requiring low moisture absorption, good dimensional stability, toughness and reliable chemical resistance. Compared with PA6 and PA66 nylon, PA12 absorbs less moisture, helping finished parts maintain more stable dimensions in humid or changing operating environments.

The material combines relatively low density with good impact strength, flexibility and resistance to oils, fuels and many industrial chemicals. It is suitable for components that require a balance of mechanical performance, dimensional stability and reduced sensitivity to environmental moisture.

CNC Machining of PA12 Nylon Rod

PA12 Nylon Rod can be processed by CNC turning, milling, drilling, boring, cutting, grooving, tapping and chamfering. Our CNC Plastic Machining service supports prototype production and batch manufacturing according to drawings, samples and actual working conditions.

Sharp cutting tools, suitable feed rates and controlled cutting temperatures are recommended during machining. Excessive heat should be avoided to reduce surface melting, burr formation and dimensional variation.

Although PA12 absorbs less moisture than PA6 and PA66, temperature, humidity and long-term loading can still affect finished dimensions. Precision parts should therefore be designed with appropriate machining allowances and installation clearances.

PA12 Material Selection Notes

  • PA12 is different from PA6, PA66 and cast MC nylon.
  • Natural or white color alone cannot confirm that the material is PA12.
  • The original material grade and technical documentation should be confirmed before production.
  • Black, reinforced, conductive, anti-static and other modified grades require separate confirmation.
  • PA12 is not automatically food-contact compliant or medical grade.
  • Actual chemical resistance depends on the medium, concentration and temperature.
  • Mechanical strength is affected by temperature, load duration and component structure.
  • Critical applications should be evaluated using grade-specific technical data.
