Dual-Color UHMWPE Solid Liner Sheet for Industrial Wear Protection

Dual-Color UHMWPE Solid Liner Sheet is a solid engineering plastic lining panel manufactured from ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene with two contrasting color layers. It is designed for industrial equipment exposed to continuous sliding, abrasive contact, repeated impact, vibration and material movement.

The product combines excellent abrasion resistance, high impact strength, a low-friction working surface, self-lubricating performance and very low moisture absorption. It can be supplied as a complete molded panel, cut-to-size liner, perforated wear plate, guide sheet, sliding surface or finished CNC-machined component.

The contrasting color structure can provide a visible indication of wear. During normal service, the outer working layer is gradually worn away. What Is a Dual-Color UHMWPE Solid Liner Sheet?

A Dual-Color UHMWPE Solid Liner Sheet is a dense thermoplastic panel composed of two visually contrasting UHMWPE layers. Unlike hollow, foamed or sandwich-core panels, the product has a solid polyethylene structure throughout its thickness.

The word “dual-color” describes the visible color-layer structure rather than two different base polymers. In most applications, both layers are manufactured from compatible UHMWPE formulations so that the complete panel retains similar wear, impact and sliding characteristics.

Typical color combinations include red and black, yellow and black, blue and white, green and white, red and white, or other project-specified combinations. The surface color, core color and thickness of each layer can be selected according to equipment identification and wear-monitoring requirements.

The sheet can remain solid or be drilled and machined with mounting holes, countersinks, flow holes, grooves, elongated slots and special profiles. A perforated sheet is still considered a solid UHMWPE panel because the base material itself is dense rather than cellular or hollow.

How Does the Dual-Color Wear Indicator Work?

Contrasting Surface and Core Layers

The outer working layer is manufactured in one color, while the underlying layer is produced in a contrasting color. For example, a red working surface may be combined with a black, white or yellow inner layer.

As long as the outer layer remains intact, only the surface color is visible. When abrasion reduces the thickness of the working layer, the contrasting inner color begins to appear.

Visual Maintenance Inspection

The exposed inner layer provides a simple visual indication that the liner has reached a predetermined wear stage.

6–20 mm Dual-Color Liner Sheets

The wear-indicator layer must remain thick enough for stable molding and subsequent machining.

Machining and Dimensional Considerations

UHMWPE expands and contracts more than most metals when temperature changes. Finished dimensions may vary when the operating temperature differs significantly from the inspection temperature.

Machining must also consider the thickness of the contrasting surface layer. Deep planing, countersinking or groove machining can locally expose the inner color before the product enters service.

The drawing should clearly identify which surfaces must retain the working-layer color and which machined areas are permitted to expose the core layer.

Critical dimensions, reference surfaces, hole positions, groove depths and tolerance requirements should be clearly marked.

Installation Recommendations

Dual-Color UHMWPE Solid Liner Sheet can be installed using countersunk bolts, recessed fasteners, mechanical clamps, backing plates or equipment-specific mounting structures.

The supporting surface should be clean, reasonably flat and capable of supporting the panel evenly.

Suitable thermal-expansion clearance should be provided around panel edges, mounting holes and joints because UHMWPE expands and contracts more than steel.
