Product Description

White UHMWPE Wear Strip

White UHMWPE Wear Strip is a low-friction, wear-resistant engineering plastic strip used as a replaceable sliding, supporting and guiding surface in conveyor systems, packaging machinery, automation equipment and general industrial machinery.

The product is manufactured from ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene, also known as UHMWPE, PE1000, PE-UHMW or UPE. Its smooth working surface helps reduce direct contact between moving products, chains, belts and metal equipment structures. This can reduce sliding resistance, equipment wear, operating vibration and maintenance requirements under suitable working conditions.

The wear strip can be supplied as a simple rectangular strip or machined into a finished guide component with mounting holes, counterbores, countersinks, adjustment slots, chamfers, steps, grooves and special cross-sectional profiles.

The white color provides a clean appearance and clear material identification. However, white color alone does not confirm that the material is food grade, antistatic, conductive, flame retardant or UV stabilized. Applications requiring special performance must use a corresponding material grade and supporting technical documentation.

Key Benefits of White UHMWPE Wear Strip

  • Excellent wear resistance: Suitable for repeated sliding, rubbing and abrasive contact in conveyor and mechanical equipment.
  • Low-friction surface: Helps products, chains, belts and moving components travel more smoothly across the supporting surface.
  • Self-lubricating performance: Many applications can operate without continuous grease or oil on the wear-strip contact surface.
  • High impact toughness: The material can absorb vibration and moderate impact generated during product transfer and equipment operation.
  • Low moisture absorption: Suitable for many humid production areas and equipment exposed to periodic water contact.
  • Corrosion resistance: UHMWPE does not rust and normally requires no protective paint or surface coating.
  • Resistance to many chemicals: Suitable for contact with many commonly encountered oils, salts, acids and alkalis after compatibility confirmation.
  • Reduced noise and vibration: The plastic contact surface can reduce hard contact between moving metal components and equipment frames.
  • Lightweight construction: Easier to handle, install and replace than many equivalent metal wear components.
  • Flexible machining: Holes, grooves, slots, steps, chamfers and equipment-specific profiles can be processed according to drawings.
  • Replaceable wear surface: Worn strips can be replaced without rebuilding the complete conveyor or metal supporting frame.

How the Wear Strip Protects Equipment

When conveyor chains, belts, products or metal components move directly against a steel frame, the contact surface may experience continuous friction, scratching, vibration and impact. Over time, this can damage the supporting structure and increase equipment noise and maintenance frequency.

A correctly installed White UHMWPE Wear Strip creates a replaceable contact layer between the moving component and the equipment frame. The smooth plastic surface helps reduce sliding resistance while protecting the more expensive metal structure from direct wear.

When the strip reaches its maintenance limit, it can be removed and replaced without changing the complete conveyor frame. This makes it suitable for equipment designed around replaceable wear components.

Material Selection Notes

White or natural-colored UHMWPE is commonly selected for clean industrial equipment, conveyor guides and sliding components. Slight color differences may occur between raw-material batches, production methods and lighting conditions.

The following properties require separate confirmation:

  • Food-contact use: Requires an appropriate food-grade UHMWPE grade and supporting compliance documentation.
  • Antistatic use: Requires an antistatic modified grade with confirmed resistance values.
  • Conductive use: Requires a conductive grade rather than standard white UHMWPE.
  • Outdoor use: May require a UV-stabilized grade because standard white material is not automatically UV resistant.
  • Flame-retardant use: Requires a tested flame-retardant material grade.
  • High-temperature use: Requires confirmation of the continuous temperature, load and exposure time.
  • Chemical contact: Requires compatibility confirmation for strong oxidizing agents, concentrated chemicals or elevated-temperature media.

Dimensional and Design Considerations

UHMWPE has a higher rate of thermal expansion than steel. Long wear strips should therefore include suitable mounting and expansion clearance when the operating temperature changes.

Elongated mounting slots may be used to allow controlled lengthwise movement. Fixing a long strip rigidly at every point without considering thermal expansion may cause bowing, distortion or stress around the fasteners.

UHMWPE is also less rigid than steel. Long, narrow or thin strips require sufficient support from the equipment frame. The product should not be used as an unsupported structural beam or precision load-bearing rail unless the complete design has been evaluated.

The material may gradually deform under continuous concentrated pressure. Fastener positions, contact pressure, strip thickness and support spacing should therefore be selected according to the actual load.

Required Information Before Production

Customers should provide the following information to confirm the correct strip specification:

  • Required thickness
  • Required width
  • Required overall length
  • Quantity
  • Application equipment
  • Moving or mating component
  • Operating load and contact pressure
  • Sliding speed
  • Continuous and maximum operating temperature
  • Mounting-hole diameter and spacing
  • Counterbore or countersink dimensions
  • Required grooves, steps or special profiles
  • Dimensional tolerance
  • Food-contact or other certification requirements
  • 2D drawing, 3D model or physical sample

Installation Recommendations

  • Keep the supporting surface flat, clean and free from sharp projections.
  • Do not overtighten fasteners and deform the plastic strip.
  • Use countersunk or counterbored holes when the fastener head must remain below the sliding surface.
  • Provide suitable thermal-expansion clearance for long strips.
  • Align adjacent strip sections to avoid raised joints and impact points.
  • Chamfer or round the entry edge when products or chains move onto the strip.
  • Use sufficient supporting points for long, thin or heavily loaded strips.
  • Remove hard particles, metal chips and abrasive contaminants regularly.
  • Inspect holes, slots and working surfaces for uneven wear.
  • Replace the strip before the moving component contacts the metal frame.

Quality Inspection

Important inspection items include material identification, thickness, width, overall length, straightness, hole position, groove dimensions, countersink depth, counterbore size, edge finish and mounting-surface condition.

Machined surfaces should be free from loose chips, obvious burrs and sharp edges that could interfere with installation. For batch production, an initial sample can be checked before processing the remaining quantity.

When the wear strip must fit an existing piece of equipment, the drawing or physical sample should be checked against the actual installation position. A heavily worn sample may no longer represent the original dimensions and should not be copied without reviewing the mating structure.

Why Choose Our White UHMWPE Wear Strip?

We have experience manufacturing UHMWPE wear strips, guide rails, chain-support profiles, sliding blocks and special-shaped engineering plastic components. Products can be supplied as cut strips, machining blanks or finished parts processed according to drawings and samples.

Our factory is equipped with cutting machines, CNC machining centers, milling equipment, drilling equipment and dimensional inspection tools. Available processing includes cutting, planing, milling, drilling, counterboring, countersinking, slotting, grooving, chamfering and special-profile machining.

Before production, we can review the dimensions, mounting structure, sliding direction, load, speed, temperature and operating environment. This helps reduce problems such as incorrect hole positions, insufficient clearance, raised fasteners, profile interference and unsuitable strip thickness.

Individual replacement strips, sample orders, small batches and continuous production orders can be arranged according to the confirmed requirements. Important dimensions, holes, grooves and fitting surfaces are inspected during production to support consistent quality and scheduled delivery.
