Natural PA6 Nylon Rod is a solid engineering plastic round bar used for machining bushings, sleeves, rollers, gears, guide wheels, pulleys, spacers, support components and other industrial plastic parts. It combines good mechanical strength, wear resistance, impact toughness and machining performance.
The product is manufactured from PA6 polyamide material, also known as Nylon 6. Depending on the rod diameter, production process and raw-material batch, its natural color may appear ivory, cream white, milky white, semi-translucent or slightly yellowish. Natural color should not be interpreted as pure white, transparent or food-contact compliant without confirming the selected material grade.
Compared with many general-purpose plastics, PA6 provides a useful balance of rigidity, toughness and abrasion resistance. It is commonly selected for components exposed to repeated movement, rolling contact, moderate loads and mechanical vibration.

Not every diameter is necessarily available from stock at all times. Diameter, actual outside tolerance, length, material grade, forming process, quantity and delivery schedule should be confirmed before ordering.
Very small diameters may be more flexible and may be supplied as small solid nylon rods or filament-type material rather than rigid machining bars. Large-diameter products may be manufactured through a different forming process from smaller extruded rods. The required material grade and production method should therefore be confirmed according to the final application.
Natural PA6 does not always have one completely uniform color. Depending on diameter, wall thickness, lighting, moisture content, raw-material batch and production process, the rod may appear:
Thin rods may look more translucent than thick rods because light can pass through a smaller material section. Large-diameter rods normally appear more opaque. These normal appearance differences do not independently indicate a change in material grade.

The rod diameter should be selected with sufficient machining allowance. A finished part with a diameter of 50 mm should not automatically be manufactured from a nominal 50 mm rod because the raw rod may have normal production tolerance, surface skin or straightness variation.

Machining allowance should be reserved when selecting the raw rod diameter. The required allowance depends on the finished component diameter, rod tolerance, straightness, concentricity and surface condition.
Large-diameter nylon rods may contain internal stress generated during forming and cooling. Removing too much material from only one side can release stress unevenly and cause bending or dimensional movement.
For precision components, a suitable process may include rough machining, symmetrical material removal, intermediate conditioning or stress-relief time, followed by final machining and inspection.
PA6 nylon is a moisture-absorbing engineering plastic. Moisture from the surrounding environment can affect the rod’s dimensions, stiffness, toughness and machining tolerances.

For precision parts, the customer should provide the operating humidity, working temperature, mating dimensions and required tolerance. A nylon component should not automatically use the same interference fit or dimensional tolerance as an equivalent metal part.
Standard natural PA6 should not automatically be described as food grade, anti-static, conductive, flame retardant, heat stabilized, oil filled or glass-fiber reinforced. These properties require a corresponding modified material grade and supporting documentation.
