Product Description

PP-H Sheet for Chemical and Industrial Fabrication

PP-H Sheet is a homopolymer polypropylene sheet designed for industrial components requiring good rigidity, low density, low moisture absorption and resistance to many acids, alkalis and chemical media. It is widely used as sheet material for chemical equipment, tanks, covers, partitions, ducts, liners and custom-machined plastic components.

PP-H stands for polypropylene homopolymer. It is produced primarily from propylene monomers without the ethylene comonomer commonly found in copolymer polypropylene grades. Compared with many PP copolymer materials, PP-H generally offers higher stiffness, hardness and dimensional stability under normal operating conditions.

However, PP-H and copolymer polypropylene should not be treated as interchangeable materials. PP-H is often selected where rigidity, chemical resistance and fabrication performance are the main requirements, while copolymer polypropylene may be more suitable where improved impact resistance, especially at lower temperatures, is required.

For additional polypropylene sheet materials and related products, visit our Polypropylene PP Sheet page. Finished parts can also be produced through our CNC Plastic Machining service. For fabricated tanks, ducts and welded assemblies, visit our Plastic Welding and Assembly page.

Polypropylene is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic polymer belonging to the polyolefin family. General information about its structure, properties and common types is available from Wikipedia’s Polypropylene explanation.

Main Features of PP-H Sheet

  • Higher rigidity than many copolymer polypropylene grades
  • Good mechanical strength for panels and structural components
  • Low density and lightweight construction
  • Very low moisture absorption
  • Good resistance to many acids, alkalis and chemical solutions
  • Does not rust in wet or corrosive operating environments
  • Good electrical insulation under suitable conditions
  • Suitable for thermoplastic welding and fabricated assemblies
  • Suitable for CNC cutting, milling, drilling and routing
  • Available in several standard sheet dimensions and thicknesses
  • Can be cut and processed according to drawings or samples
  • Suitable for chemical, environmental and general industrial equipment

Typical Applications of PP-H Sheet

PP-H Sheet can be used for fabricated, machined and corrosion-resistant industrial components, including:

  • Chemical storage tank panels
  • Pickling and electroplating tank linings
  • Wastewater treatment equipment panels
  • Ventilation ducts and exhaust-system components
  • Fume hoods and laboratory equipment
  • Chemical equipment covers and partitions
  • Pump bases and equipment support panels
  • Filter housings and processing containers
  • Machine guards and protective covers
  • Industrial work surfaces and partitions
  • Packaging and conveying equipment components
  • Custom CNC-machined polypropylene parts

The final material grade and component structure should be selected according to the chemical medium, concentration, operating temperature, mechanical load, installation method and expected service life.

For tanks, containers and welded chemical equipment, sheet thickness, reinforcement structure, welding method and safety factor should be determined through appropriate engineering design. Material chemical compatibility should also be verified before production.

Size notice: The dimensions and thicknesses above are reference production and sales specifications taken from the supplied image. They do not represent guaranteed inventory. Actual sheet size, thickness, color, PP-H grade, tolerance, flatness, surface condition, minimum order quantity and delivery time should be confirmed before production.

Other widths, lengths, thicknesses, cut panels and finished parts can be evaluated according to customer drawings, physical samples and operating requirements. Cutting and machining may require additional material allowance depending on the required tolerance and finished component structure.

CNC Machining of PP-H Sheet

PP-H Sheet can be processed through CNC cutting, milling, drilling, routing, slotting, boring, tapping and chamfering. Our CNC Plastic Machining service supports sample production and batch manufacturing according to customer drawings, physical samples and equipment requirements.

Sharp cutting tools and suitable machining parameters are recommended to reduce cutting heat, burr formation and local deformation. The sheet should be properly supported and clamped during machining, especially when processing large panels, thin sheets or components with long narrow structures.

Polypropylene has a higher thermal expansion rate and lower rigidity than many metal materials. Finished-part tolerances, mounting holes, expansion clearance and support spacing should therefore be determined according to the operating temperature and component dimensions.

Welding and Fabrication

PP-H sheet can be fabricated into tanks, ducts, covers and equipment assemblies by suitable thermoplastic welding methods. Our Plastic Welding and Assembly service supports sheet cutting, welding, assembly and fabricated plastic component production.

The welding rod, sheet grade and welding parameters should be compatible with each other. Welding temperature, groove design, joint structure and reinforcement arrangement should be controlled according to the sheet thickness and intended operating conditions.

For load-bearing tanks or chemical equipment, welded-joint strength and structural safety should be verified before installation and operation.

PP-H Material Selection Notes

  • PP-H is homopolymer polypropylene and differs from PP-C and PP-R grades.
  • PP-H generally provides higher rigidity than copolymer polypropylene.
  • Low-temperature impact resistance may be lower than that of copolymer grades.
  • Chemical compatibility depends on the medium, concentration and temperature.
  • Strong oxidizing chemicals require separate compatibility confirmation.
  • Outdoor applications require a grade with suitable UV stabilization.
  • Natural color alone does not indicate food-contact compliance.
  • Food, medical or pharmaceutical applications require grade-specific documentation.
  • Long-term loading may cause creep and should be considered during structural design.
  • Flame-retardant, conductive and antistatic grades require separate confirmation.
  • Operating temperature limits should be confirmed using the selected grade’s technical data.
  • Pressure-containing equipment requires proper engineering design and testing.

PP-H Sheet is suitable for customers requiring a lightweight, rigid and corrosion-resistant polypropylene material for chemical equipment, fabricated structures and custom-machined industrial components. The sheet size, thickness, material grade, machining allowance and finished structure should be selected according to the actual working conditions.
